There is something profoundly beautiful about the love and joy that babies bring to the world.
Their innocence, their purity, and their presence are among those quiet mysteries of life that awaken us to God, the creator of all things beautiful.
Along the journey of raising a family, we all agree that parents are the first line of responsibility.
But just outside of this intimate circle stands a sacred bond: the aunties and uncles. It is always a unique blessing from God to have aunties and uncles who fiercely love their nieces and nephews.
This is the story of one such auntie.
When her niece was born, she felt a deep, soulful pull to be remarkably intentional about how she showed up in her life. Yes, toys were available everywhere. Children’s books littered every shelf. But she purposed in her heart not just to buy anything, but she made it her mission to find items that would spark curiosity and nurture her niece’s development meaningfully.
This intentionality of purpose drew her to search for toys that have no screens and use no batteries. She set out to look for toys with less unnecessary distraction—toys that would allow her niece to focus, explore, and beautifully develop her cognitive abilities. For the books, she looked for pages that would build a foundation of faith in her little niece.
In that precise moment, things began to work themselves together like a beautiful puzzle. This push to find intentional books and toys for her six-month-old niece ignited a fire within her. It was a spark that made her realize other families deserved access to these same treasures for their own children.
The Bible says in the Gospel of Matthew, “Let the little children come to me.” There is clearly something so divine about children that, when you allow yourself to truly see them, you draw a bottomless depth of inspiration.
That good auntie was Joanna Tendo, and her beautiful little niece was Eden.
Today, what began as a faithful, quiet desire to gift her niece the most intentional childhood has blossomed into Eden’s Playhouse. From the faith-filled books and carefully chosen clothes to the intentional toys, every item shared with parents around the world found its very first breath of inspiration in Eden.
“Everything that I put in the store, I always ask myself, would this be good for Eden?” Joanna says.
The greatest testament to quality is when someone builds a business exactly the way they would care for a loved one. Eden’s Playhouse isn’t just a store; it is a living testament to the power of family, the power of love, and the beautiful fruit that the two can produce when they come together.
To all the amazing aunties and uncles out there: thank you. Your love is uniquely special, and you hold a beautiful piece of the puzzle in raising the next generation.
