Every now and then, you come across someone who carries a vast array of experience in a particular field, yet the moment you start talking, they make you feel like family. In conversation with them, you quickly forget the heavy CV they hold and are simply drawn to who they are as a person—their compassion, their warmth, and their respect. Whenever you are blessed to be in such a person’s company, you treasure it.
Kenny Katuramu, commonly known as KK, has been a household name in Uganda’s media industry—particularly radio—for over 15 years. Having worked at powerhouses like Next Media, Sanyu FM, and Capital FM, you are utterly amazed by the sheer humility and down-to-earth nature with which he speaks.
One of the deepest loves he speaks about is the blessing of being a father. With three children, he considers parenting the highest calling anyone can ever have.
“I mean, you look at these little beings that you brought into this world and having the opportunity to love them—that’s priceless, man!”
It is this natural love for children that drew him to the Baby & Kids Expo stage. For the past three editions, he has been the man behind the mic, ensuring that from the grand opening all the way to the closing ceremony, the event maintains the right vibe and energy.
The Baby & Kids Expo is Uganda’s one-stop exhibition bringing together parents, caregivers, educators, and children under one roof. The brainchild of Joweria Nabuuma, the Expo has over the years become a vibrant hub for nurturing Uganda’s baby, children, and mother-focused brands—combining expert insights, quality products, and wholesome family fun.

At the center of all this wholesome fun is a bustling hall of little ones and their parents. Anyone who has worked with children will tell you that keeping them engaged for an extended period is quite a challenge.
(Shoutout to Kindergarten and Lower Primary teachers—your work is exceptionally difficult, yet you do it with so much love!)
But MC KK steps up to the mic from Day 1 and consistently keeps both children and parents excited straight through to the final act! You might wonder: how does he sustain that energy? The answer lies in a deep-seated truth: prayer.
“I pray a lot! I ask God to help me. I do this like seven times a day!”
When you talk to someone, you can easily tell who speaks about prayer as a theoretical concept and who speaks about it as a real, daily practice. KK is firmly in the latter category.
Through these moments of prayer, he approaches the Baby & Kids Expo as an opportunity to build a legacy—to inspire young children to become better versions of themselves. Without a doubt, anyone who serves a greater purpose will always move with an effortless grace.

This is the legacy of MC KK at the Baby & Kids Expo: bringing laughter, giving people the room to flourish, treating everyone like they are the most important person in the room, and above all, keeping the energy alive throughout the event.
Still, one might wonder if a joyous person like him ever gets angry. When asked how he reacts when his little ones cross the line at home, he shared a piece of spiritual wisdom he holds dear:
“Children and your wealth are a test from God.”
Because of this, he views the moments when his children misbehave as an opportunity to respond with wisdom. It is never about embarrassing them, but about guiding them toward what is right with patience. And he ends with a truth that many parents easily shy away from: leading by example.
“If the children see me treating their mother or the house help in a certain way, it becomes really hard for me to tell them to do otherwise.”
Here again, we see the humility of his parental responsibility—he never excludes himself from the equation. This is MC KK.
When an MC steps on stage carrying a heart that says, “I need to lead by example,” and a faith that prays to ask God for help, you are confident as a parent that your children are in the best hands possible. What an honor to have a man of this caliber host the Baby & Kids Expo! He is a true representation of what a parent should be: God-fearing, patient, and humble.
Here’s to many more Baby & Kids Expos with MC KK on the mic!
