What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?

One fascinating thing about life is this: when you overcome something, it is easy to forget how scared you were, how much you doubted yourself, or how close you came to giving up on the mere thought of it.

A question like this gives anyone a reason to pause, look back, and truly appreciate how far they have come.

Indeed, this reflection matters. Remembering yesterday’s victories is often what gives us the energy to face today’s challenges.

For us, the answer is simple. One word, actually: STARTING.

Many of us have brilliant ideas waiting in the back of our minds—ideas that have been sitting there for weeks, months, or even years. Taking the leap to turn an idea into reality is often the hardest part of the journey. And truth be told, it is difficult to start.

Our origin began with our founder’s deep love for writing children’s stories. That passion could have comfortably remained a quiet hobby; something to pursue at the end of the day or whenever there was time to write. Keeping it that way also meant safety: no risk, no exposure, and none of the heavy expectations that come with running a business.

Besides, starting a writing business in an era where AI can generate text in seconds felt like a very risky move. But despite the doubts and the uncertainties, Lapatutu Writing Creations was born.

The idea was simple: use the power of writing to tell the stories of brands and individuals doing outstanding work, so their impact is captured for generations to come. Our niche was depth—the kind of writing that can convert a client into a true believer.

So we set out, and one by one, we found clients who truly understood the value of that depth.

Seeing our words out in the world for clients who trusted us early on was the quiet encouragement we needed. And the best part was writing about the side of things social media often skips over. Exploring Newman’s youth legacy, showing how a snack brand chooses to invest in young athletes and communities, reminded us why depth matters. They may not be fast-paced or viral posts, but they hold the quiet, meaningful stories that make a brand feel human.

Along the way, however, the greatest reward has gone far beyond the writing. It has been the privilege of stepping into classrooms to inspire young learners to discover the joy of reading, writing, and public speaking. Having this business has given us the chance to work with schools like Nakiwogo Primary School in Entebbe, Uganda, where we have been able to host writing competitions, inspirational talks and donate storybooks to students from lower income households.

Looking back, we never imagined we would be here—inspiring the world through the Daily Writing Prompts, having clients who want their stories told deeply, and above all, having the opportunity to give back by inspiring young students. Starting was the hardest step, but it remains the best decision we ever made.

So, as you step into this new week, we leave you with this encouragement. Take the courage and start.

Have an inspired week!

Lapatutu Reflections

Writers are not necessarily great speakers, but great speakers are almost certainly great writers. The ability to speak elegantly is deeply tied to your ability to write the thoughts in your mind. What an honorable thing writing is!
