The 2026 World Cup has had some unforgettable games, but this one ranks rather highly.

Depending on who you ask, the match was either the epitome of a historic turnaround or the greatest display of poor refereeing. At one point, Egypt was leading by two goals, and it seemed like a done deal. Messi even missed a penalty, so it really looked like lady luck was dancing with Egypt that night.

Then came the 79th minute. Argentina scored their first goal. Hope was revived, but with barely ten minutes left on the clock, it still didn’t seem like much would happen.

Then came the 83rd minute. Argentina scored the equalizer, before sealing the game entirely in the 92nd minute during stoppage time.

Away from the debate over the refereeing, there’s a quiet reminder here about how fast life’s seasons can shift.

One moment, Egypt was winning, and then they lost.

One moment, Argentina was losing, and then they won.

It is the same along life’s journey, which is why it is important to keep clarity whether we are on the hill or down in the valley.

While you are in a season of winning—the money is coming in, proposals are being accepted—don’t lose your humanity, your compassion, or your contentment.

And when you are in a season of losing—emails are going unanswered, debt is accumulating—don’t lose hope in the turnaround.

Both seasons are just moments in time. Keep your feet on the ground when you’re up, and keep your head up when you’re down.
