Did you know that Smart Soy Yoghurt has cholesterol-reversing properties?

Prove it!

That is likely the first response in your mind after reading such a statement. And for Martin Ssali, a food scientist and founder of Smart Foods Uganda, it is a response he welcomes. He believes every health claim ought to have scientific backing so that it remains a genuine health truth, not just opportunistic marketing.

The proof lies in the science. And to understand the solution, we first need to look at the problem—what cholesterol actually does inside your body.

Cholesterol is a buildup of fat that attaches to the inner walls of blood vessels narrowing the path for natural blood flow. Imagine a water pipe that gradually accumulates dirt inside—the passage shrinks, and the water flows much slower. When this happens in the human body, the heart senses the resistance and pumps with much higher force to push blood through. That extra force is what leads to high blood pressure.

Now, this is how soy comes into play.

Natural soy protein contains plant compounds known as isoflavones. When digested—which happens whenever you enjoy Smart Soy Yoghurt—these compounds interact directly with fat cells and cholesterol markers in the body. They help break down accumulated bad fats, naturally freeing up your blood vessels.

But again, why would you take the manufacturer’s word for it?

Of course a founder will speak highly of his product—this is likely the very thought on your mind. But Martin’s confidence isn’t based on preference; it is based on documented evidence.

Between 1995 and 1998, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) carried out extensive research to answer a critical question: Does consuming complete soy protein actually lower cholesterol? In 1999, the FDA released landmark findings confirming the claim with solid evidence: consuming at least 25 grams of soy protein daily actively reduces cholesterol.

In other words, sibigambo bugambo! (It is not just hearsay)

Smart Soy Yoghurt makes reaching that daily soy protein goal simple, natural, affordable and enjoyable.

The ideal recommendation for anyone on a strict health diet, managing high blood pressure, or actively working to reverse a cardiovascular condition is the Plain, Sugar-Free Smart Soy Yoghurt. It is worth noting that while it is not a replacement for prescribed medical treatment, it is a powerful nutritional addition to your daily diet.

For anyone looking for a rich, conscious heart-smart snack, or older adults who are less physically active but want to protect their cardiovascular health, the Flavored Smart Soy Yoghurt is the ideal choice.

It offers the same protective benefits for your blood vessels without requiring you to sacrifice taste.

While Smart Soy Yoghurt is a powerful addition to your heart-smart choices, Martin reminds us that real heart health is holistic—it yields the best results when supported by a natural diet, regular exercise, rest, and overall healthy living habits.

Smart Soy Yoghurt is proven science made delicious, affordable, and ready for your daily routine in a convenient bottle. So, dear reader, it feels like there is only one right way to end this—webelelemu!

I agree with @joyfullywitched on the lactose intolerant bit. I’m not lactose intolerant but I didn’t have the discomfort I normally do when I take heavy dairy. Highly recommend.
