What’s one piece of travel advice you always follow?

Air travel has come an incredible way in recent years. Not so long ago, using a phone during a flight was strictly forbidden. The cabin crew would make a stern warning over the speakers before takeoff, and any passenger in their right mind would quickly turn off their phone. In fact, that exact rule is the very reason why every smartphone still carries the ‘Airplane Mode’ toggle in its settings today.

Today, the story is completely different. On next-generation jets like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner or Airbus A350, you have fast Wi-Fi and high-power charging ports right at your seat. You can literally be cruising at 32,000 feet while hosting a video call, replying to emails, or managing your business.

Yet, despite all this technology, one age-old headache remains undefeated: flight delays.

That brings us back to today’s question about travel advice to always follow. As someone flying by air, it helps to have it in the back of your mind that a flight delay can happen.

Some of the most common reasons for flight delays are completely beyond human control—with heavy thunderstorms topping the list. Severe thunderstorms create powerful electromagnetic fields that interfere with aircraft navigation instruments and air traffic radar systems. In those moments, safety takes over, and holding flights on the ground becomes the only responsible option.

To make matters a little more challenging, the airline’s communication may not be as swift as we’d hope in those moments. Customer support teams are often piecing together live weather updates in real time, which can lead to brief delays before clear announcements are made to passengers.

So, once you’ve booked that ticket, pack a little patience and leave room for the unexpected. That simple mental preparation acts as a great shock absorber, helping you stay calm and composed whenever nature takes over the schedule. Keeping the possibility of a delay in mind isn’t about being defeatist—it’s about protecting your peace of mind.

Travel Safe!

Writers are not necessarily great speakers, but great speakers are almost certainly great writers. The ability to speak elegantly is deeply tied to your ability to write the thoughts in your mind. What an honorable thing writing is!
