Daily writing prompt
What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?

There is nothing quite like the fear of launching out as a young business. Often, the uncertainty feels far heavier than the drive to move forward. When our founder set out to build an agency rooted in using authentic writing to capture brand impact, the voices inciting doubt were loud and clear:

How dare you start a writing business in the age of AI? Nobody reads anymore! It’s all about short-form video! Who has the time to read anything long form?

Outwardly, you wear your toughest, most confident face. But inwardly, as you stare at sent emails and empty inboxes, your mind wanders. Are they right? Is this a crazy idea?

For any founder or young business, the single greatest miracle in that moment of doubt is getting that very first client. Here at Lapatutu, that act of kindness came from Newman’s, a Ugandan snack maker.

For a well-established household brand, they could have hired virtually any established agency in the market. Instead, taking a chance on a young writing business was the ultimate gesture of belief. It came as a reply to an email—just four words that propelled our vision forward:

I accept your proposal.

From that pivotal first encounter to this day, they have remained a cornerstone client. Thank you, Newman’s!

It is a delicate balance to speak on this without making it sound like an advertisement, but the question remains: how do you acknowledge kindness without shining the brightest possible light on the giver?

To every young business owner navigating the search for stability, to the solo entrepreneurs, the dreamers, and those waiting on their very first opportunity: may life place believers in your path.

Just as the bee finds the flower and helps it blossom, may someone see your potential and help you grow.

And as we continue our own journey, we hope that we, too, can be the answer to this very question for someone else.

Have an inspired week.

Quote of the month

Of course AI can write for you. Just like most people can run a marathon or play football—but most people aren’t Eliud Kipchoge or Bukayo Saka. In much the same way, AI can write for you.
